TAG Farnborough Airport Master Plan

Airport master plans are intended to inform the planning process and the preparation of them provides an opportunity for local communities to engage with airports on future development.

TAG Farnborough Airport is a responsible member of the local community. Community engagement is an important aspect of our operation, and one which TAG has committed to continue and grow.

Farnborough Aerodrome Consultative Committee (FACC)

The FACC is an independent body established by TAG Farnborough Airport Limited pursuant to Section 35 of the Civil Aviation Act 1982. It is the forum at which the management of the Airport interacts with local stakeholders including public agencies, residential communities and with the Airport users on a range of environmental and other Airport issues.

Meetings are held three times a year and are open to the public and press.

Quiet Flying Programme
In co-operation with a number of local residents’ associations, TAG has developed a “Quiet Flying Programme”. We have introduced measures designed to reduce levels of noise, including the use of enhanced take-off procedures, changes to approach routes avoiding noise sensitive areas and using ground electric power to avoid the use of engines when aircraft are parked. The Quiet Flying Programme is committed to developing noise reduction initiatives, regularly assessing noise impact, and encouraging the operation of aircraft as quietly as possible.

Master Plan & Public Consultation
In late 2008, TAG Farnborough Airport has published its Draft Master Plan. Airport Master Plans are intended to inform the planning process of the airport and through the preparation of such plans, provide an opportunity for local communities to engage with airports on future development. The Master Plan will outline how TAG Farnborough proposes to make best possible use of existing infrastructure, whilst minimizing the environmental effect.

The Government Aviation White Paper, ‘The Future of Air Transport’ (2003) which was updated in December 2006, requires airports which exceed a specified number of aircraft movements to prepare Master Plans that set out their proposals to 2015 and indicatively to 2030. In 2000, RBC granted planning permission and set out the limits defining Farnborough Airport’s terms of operation. The Airport is now approaching these limits and new ones need to be agreed to reflect current demand and forecast growth.

TAG Farnborough Airport has published a Master Plan for public consultation. It can be viewed or downloaded at www.tagconsultation.com.
The consultation period closes on 28th February 2009.

Local Community Initiatives
“Aviation to Education” is run with the First Partnership ‘Business to Education’ initiative. First Partnership is a not-for-profit education business partnership (EBP) which supplies and delivers education support to schools and colleges through a variety of creative programmes that bring business and education together. Aviation to Education reaches out to schools and colleges in the local area to inform and teach them about both TAG Farnborough Airport and TAG Aviation and the part TAG can play in the community through a range of activities.
