Elements of an Aircraft Sale
Requirements and Priorities
- Why are you selling? Have you considered lease or exchange as alternatives to sale?
- Is your need immediate or planned? Have you scheduled a new delivery, completion or refurbishment?
- Is the sale part of a 1031 like-kind exchange? Do you need interim lift?
State of the Market
- Aircraft markets are cyclical: what is their current status and momentum?
- What is the recent bid, ask and sale price history? What percent of the fleet is for sale? Is availability increasing or decreasing?
- Where does your aircraft fit into the current market? At what prices have comparable aircraft sold?
The Aircraft
- What is your aircraft worth in the current market? How is it positioned relative to other offerings?
- What is your pricing strategy? What support can you provide a buyer for your asking price?
