TAG Aviation supports Royal Air Force 100th Anniversary Celebrations

Tuesday 10th July was an historic day for the Royal Air Force as the services 100th Anniversary celebrations came to a dramatic climax in central London.

Representatives from TAG Aviation were delighted to be invited to attend the book presentation ceremony of the RAF100 keepsake album at the RAF Museum, which has been produced in support of the RAF100 Appeal and published by St James’s House.

The beautifully illustrated prestigious publication showcases a selection of RAF partner organisations including a contribution from TAG, generously sponsored by TAG Farnborough Maintenance Services and TAG Europe, and provides a rich photographic record of the RAF’s past and present and vision for the future.

Tens of thousands of spectators filled the Royal Parks and the Mall as the 100RAF aircraft from the past century came together in a once-in-a-lifetime flypast above Buckingham Palace, marking the first time since the Second World War victory celebrations of 1946 that such a vast number of aircraft have flown together over London.

Speaking about this landmark event, Richard Freed, St James’s House CEO, said “For the past six months, the RAF’s centenary celebrations have been in the public consciousness and were building up to yesterday’s momentous occasion. London came to a standstill for the flypast and it is an honour for St James’s House to have worked on the RAF100 Appeal’s commemorative album which features a wide selection of breath-taking imagery from the RAF Museum’s extensive archives to mark this historic occasion.”

Created with limited-edition red, white and blue covers, the commemorative album serves as a stylish reminder of the past and present achievements of the RAF, and of the organisations around the world that support the service, Commenting, Capt. Russ Allchorne, Vice President Flight Operations, TAG Aviation Europe, added “TAG has been delighted to be able to support this prestigious event. The heritage of Farnborough Airport, which played a pivotal role in the development of the RAF’s air power throughout the years, has now moved across to TAG, and as such we are delighted to be able to recognise that historic link in the support that we have been able to provide to the celebrations commemorating the RAF’s 100th Birthday. The RAF100 Album is a marvellous testament to the first 100 years of the RAF.”
