In 2014, TAG Aviation’s now Malta-based Pilot, Will Hosie, flew upside down across the English Channel whilst manning the controls of his Christen Eagle II light aircraft, fund-raising for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSHCC). 

And if once wasn’t enough for such a daring accomplishment, today on 16th April, Will did it all over again, this time accompanied by 5 other aircraft, flying inverted for a total of 12 minutes from Lydd to Cap Gris and back again at a height of 900 feet and at a speed of 150mph.

Will says, “The opportunity to combine this relatively straightforward technique with a love and experience of flying aircraft seemed the perfect excuse to once again raise funds for the GOSHCC. So far we have achieved our original target and raised £3,000.”

Before relocating to Malta to pilot aircaft on behalf of TAG, Will used to be based in Moscow and has clocked up some 21,000 hours piloting airbuses in a career that has to date spanned some 40 years.  He has piloted for aerospace leaders McDonell Douglas, Boeing and Bombardier and has always had a keen interest in light aircraft, himself owning his own light aircraft now for some eleven years.

Will wants to say a big thanks to TAG who generously sponsored the fuel and running costs of his aircraft for this challenge which helped enable him achieve this landmark flight for the second time and importantly raise much-needed funds to help children with leukemia.
